Last December at the Intertribal FriendshipHouse in Oakland (CA), curator Mica Valdezand Macha Femme volunteers organized a stellar line up of performances featuring Native women artists including the muy funny MC Gise, poets Sherry Wilson, Sonia Gutierrez, Vickie Vertiz, Melissa Lozano, and Jaynie Lara Hlapsi, with music by DJ Special K, Lory Lozano, Redbird Giving, Sweet Medicine, and a special performance by Indigenous rapper from Seattle, Sista Hailstorm.
